Japan Industrial Designers' Association [JIDA] Design Museum

1993年、JIDAに発足した「デザインミュージアム構想委員会」に始まる。人々に生活文化の創造拠点を提供し、次世代のデザインの創り手、担い手、受け手を育成するために、製品開発の当事者であるデザイナーが自ら作品・関連資料の収集、展示、ミュージアムの運営を行う。1997年には、長野県信州新町に常設・活動スペース「JIDAデザインミュージアム1号館/信州新町」をオープン。

≪Link Museum≫

The JIDA Design Museum originated from "Design Museum Planning Committee" of Japan Industrial Designers' Association in 1993.  Here, designer [members of JIDA] are responsible for collection and exhibition of product design objects and related materials, and management of the museum.  Missions of the museum are, to provide the people a center where they can reconsider lifestyle and material culture, and to educate themselves, creators, providers and consumers of future design.  In 1997, "JIDA Design Museum 1, Shinshushinmachi," a permanent exhibition/activity space was opened to public in Nagano Prefecture.

埼玉県立近代美術館
The Museum of Modern Art, Saitama

主として国内外の近・現代美術のコレクション、展覧会活動、熱心な教育普及活動で知られているが、実は「座ることができる名作椅子」の展示[館内各所に設置]の先駆け的でもある。1982年にオープン、建築設計は黒川紀章。

≪Museums of the Kanto/Tokyo District≫

While it is known as a museum of which collection covers domestic and foreign modern/contemporary art, exhibitions focusing on the same trend, and enthusiastic educational activities, it is one of the most early examples of introducing "hands on exhibits" of chairs [installed at many places in the museum].  Opened to public in 1982 with the museum building designed by Kisho Kurokawa.

印刷博物館
The Printing Museum, Tokyo

2000年のオープン以来、「印刷文化学」の確立を目ざし、特に日本/アジアの印刷に重点を置いたミュージアム活動を精力的に展開している。親会社である凸版印刷株式会社のビル内にあり、設計は岡田新一。

Since the opening of the museum in 2000, it has been known for a range of museum activities focusing on the field of printing, especially that of Japan and Asia, with an aim of establishing the "Study of Printing Culture."  Located inside the building of Toppan Printing Co., Ltd., the parent company of the museum, which is designed by Shinichi Okada.

京都国立近代美術館
The National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto

建築・デザイン領域の展覧会や作品収蔵はもちろん、日本を代表するミュージアムのひとつ。1963年に国立近代美術館京都分館としてオープン、1967年には京都国立近代美術館として独立した。1987年竣工の新館[完全に建て替え]の設計は槙文彦。

≪Museums of the Kansai District≫

One of the leading public museums in Japan famous for its collection and exhibitions featuring not only art but also architecture and design.  First opened as the Kyoto Annex of the National Museum of Modern Art [Tokyo] in 1963, and became an independent institution in 1967 as the National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto.  The renewed building [entirely newly built and completed in 1987] is designed by Fumihiko Maki.
